I won a Microsoft Research Grant for his dissertation, “Using Online Team Recommender Systems to Form Diverse Teams!” The grant supports the research of underrepresented students in the field of computing who are finishing their doctoral degrees at North American universities. Recipients receive up to $25,000 for the research and the award rate is at 4%!

My paper “Do I know you? The effects of offline social capital in self-assembled teams online.” was accepted at the National Communication Conference.
Congratulations to lead author, Diego Gómez-Zará, 4th year PhD candidate in Technology and Social Behavior (TSB) on receiving Honorable Mention Award at CHI 2020 for his paper “The Impact of Displaying Diversity Information on the Formation of Self-assembling Teams.”
This paper is co-authored with our data science intern, Mengzi Guo, undergraduate student with majors in Applied Mathematics and Industrial Engineering & Management Sciences, as well as Professor and Director Noshir Contractor, and Professor Leslie DeChurch.
